Traditionally Cut
Anyone who has played card games for a long time knows the importance of playing cards that feel great in the hand and perform flawlessly from the box. Richard Turner’s Gold Seal Bicycle Playing Cards, by Richard Turner, are the best choice for magicians and gamblers alike.
The Gold Seal Bicycle Playing Cards are made from Bee stock that is world renowned for its flexibility, yet long-lasting durability. They are stamped to a caliper/thickness that facilitates classic moves like bottom and center dealing, and are embossed to a depth that doesn’t break down the structural integrity of the card yet allows it to breathe properly reducing gum-up and hangers often caused by finger moisture.
They also feature a trademarked air cushion finish that allows them to keep their slip, snap and last for longer.
USPCC-brand Bicycle cards are consistent in their use of standard stock. They are also finished with their trademark Air-Cushion finish.
Rider Back vs Standard
The main difference between a standard issue Bicycle deck and a Rider Back deck is the design of the Jokers. The old-fashioned black and white Jokers that were included in older Bicycle Rider Back decks are replaced with fully colored Jokers in modern Standard Bicycle decks.
There are subtle differences between the Bicycle playing card face cards. The Ace of Spades on a standard Bicycle deck is printed in blue, while the Lady Liberty Ace of Spades on a Rider Back deck is printed red.
Both bicycle playing cards can be purchased in red or blue. Each deck contains 52 cards. There are 13 cards per red and two black suits and two Jokers. Current decks also contain a couple of extra cards, typically an advertising card and another card ranking poker hands.
Both types of Bicycle decks are a staple in playing card games for more than 130 years. However, some people wonder if there are any differences between the standard and rider-back Bicycle cards. Both decks look identical with the standard faces and the Bicycle logo on their ace of spades.
A closer look at both decks will reveal the main difference. The tuckbox on a Rider Back deck looks completely different to the one on a Standard Bicycle. The Rider Back tuck boxes typically display a recognizable Bicycle design, while the Standard tuck box offers some sort of text or advertising copy.
